CROESO 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 WELCOME

First off, I want to send a very warm welcome to the influx of new subscribers who've joined since the REVIVAL summit this past weekend. It's good to have you here!

What should you expect from being on this list?! Well I'll be honest, as most of my long term subscribers know, I am not consistent on the emailing front. I have little bursts of activity when I need to let you know I'm offering a thing (because... making a living). And always with plenty of large 'opt out of emails for this particular thing' buttons.

So I won't bombard your inbox over-much! That being said, if you LIKE my musings and want to suggest topics you'd like to hear more about, just hit reply to email me...

You can also read more about me, my background in coaching, inclusive practice and performance here.

Back balance is a b****!
Online masterclass • Sunday 22 June • $39

(Yes the recording is available!)

This is the last deep dive masterclass of my current coaching cycle and I'm tackling one of the classic nemesis skills head on!

I'm talking specifically about back balance on rope or silks (or side back balance on sling) which, on a vertical pole, is really more of a sideways lean or drape against the apparatus in a (very roughly) horizontal line. [Spoiler alert: back balance can and should look different on different bodies and that is ABSOLUTELY OK]

YES, I KNOW there are folks out there who can magically nail a back balance in their very first aerial lesson and whip it out consistently for the rest of time (wtaf?) but for - a SURPRISING - number of aerialists (me most definitely included) this skill just SUCKSSSSSS no matter how badass we become in the rest of our practice.

One of the things I LOVE about the nemesis skills that it's taken me a long time to achieve is that I end up with a HUGE TOOLKIT of drills that I've tried and tested from a range of different sources. This masterclass is where I'm going to share ALL the things that have helped me - and many of the students I've worked with - find a back balance that WORKS FOR OUR OWN BODIES. AND I'll also be covering wrapped alternatives for the same aesthetic without the struggle bus, and some sequencing that doesn’t require a static hold!

If you loved my Scorpionally challenged! masterclass, this is the equivalent for back balance (I just couldn't make 'back balancedly challenge' work as a title 🤣).

Who is it for?

🙋‍♀️ Aerialists (rope/silks) or sling artists who are struggling with back balance full stop, or maybe with back balance consistency; or who’d like to play with some wrapped alternatives and sequencing through this position.

🙋‍♀️ Coaches - perhaps especially if you CAN back balance easily - who’d like to know more about this skill from the perspective of those of us on the struggle bus - or who are just looking for some cues or inspiration for anyone who seems stuck; perhaps we can also crowd-source suggestions too!

If you missed it, the Circus Mobility Revival summit was a jam-packed 3 days of presentations from 30+ speakers: some of the coaches and practitioners I most admire from the aerial, strength and mobility world that ran across last weekend.

🪽

BUT if it flew right over your head, you can still get lifetime access to all the presentations PLUS an incredible goodie bag of knowledge - including Jessica John's own Shoulders You Can Trust Masterclass & Training Plan (honestly I CANNOT recommend this highly enough it has SAVED my shoulders), to Patreon membership access (sling folks this includes Gabby Brody's patreon!) and MORE.

Finally, some folks have been asking me about 1:1 online coaching availability. I coach in cycles (spring/summer and autumn/winter) to give me time to focus on my own practice in between. The next coaching cycle starts in September and I'm working on developing some different entry points/packages. But if you're even the teeniest bit interested in working with me 1:1, you can...

Being on the interest/wait list does not commit you to anything - it just means you're the first to hear about when my coaching opens up AND the only way to get the early bird discounts!

Warmest wishes from West Wales,
Jess

Here's the email condensed for the skip-to-the-enders!
