📌 What's on your aerial mood board?

Hey everyone,

Flourish is still enrolling (but only for 36 more hours - you can get in on that here!) and one of my favourite things about onboarding is asking Flourish students to DM me their aerial mood board - that's up to 10 IG reels or posts which give me a sense of their current interests and goals.

Because most aerialists tend to have a shopping list of 500000 skills, I stipulate ONLY 3 skills with the rest focusing on movement quality, choreographic detail, values, whimsy or anything else they aspire to or admire as an aerialist and/or human.

Why do I do this? Well ofc it's a great way for me to get to know someone's current vibe, but the act of CHOOSING how we want to focus our practice is also super powerful in its own way. ESPECIALLY how our goals align with our wider values.

Working with a coach for a period of time is a financial investment, yes, but it's also about making a statement to ourselves, that we're (re)committing to our practice. So entering into a coaching relationship with a very clear idea of what we want to get out of it is so important...

Flourish: mapping your practice

We kick off every Flourish cycle with a practice mapping workshop: a comprehensive audit of your aerial training, goals, needs, desires AS WELL AS your available time, energy, focus for this cycle so you can set realistic goals and expectations of yourself and we can make a plan that you feel excited to show up for!

One of the most important things I've always wanted to offer anyone coming into the programme is breathing space to think deeply about their aerial goals then work systematically towards them with support.

🍓 If you choose the 1:1 strand this means we're also mapping out your goals for the time we spend together in 1:1 lessons - whether that's working on skills or an act or other creative project - with 1:1 support and cheerleading from me

🍓if you pick the group only strand this workshop means you're getting the support and tools you need to plan your independent training and set yourself up for success, with group support and check ins from me via the community chat.

🎭 Do you have an aerial mood board?
What would be on it? Seriously - I'm genuinely curious! If anyone wants to join in with this exercise please DM me!! I'd LOVE to receive. And I'll be sharing mine as usual in my Stories next week. True story: the first time I did this, and shared one of my all time movement heroes' work with a tag (which i didn't expect them to see, let alone respond to) was a lovely response which made my year.

Warmest wishes from West Wales,
Jess
